Her pale face glowed in the moonlight. In his hands was the sleeping girl, her eyes closed and her mouth agape. He bent towards her face and whispered in her pierced ear, “I’ll never let you go, no matter how much money they give me.”
She hadn’t gotten any sleep in the past few days, and it wasn’t until he slipped tranquilizer pills into her food (which she ate so meagerly it worried him) that she found the balmy comfort of sleep.
It seemed as though his whisper had almost woken her, for her eyes – a pale green in colour – shut tighter and she let out a low groan. Her hands went to her head and she screamed as she felt hands that were not her own on her face. “Please, please, just leave me alone!” she yelled, rolling out of the bed.
“Dee, come on now, I just wanted to watch you sleep,” he said, a crooked smile appearing on his face. She was frozen in fright, having crawled into a corner.
“My name is Denise, not Dee, and I’m… you… please, just…” she stuttered out, covering her face with her hands.
“No matter how much your daddy pays me, I’ll never, ever give let you go.”
She screamed again, for possibly the last time, as he grabbed her by the torso and threw her on the bed.
